Are your web rates cheaper than your local rates?

Absolutely! In fact the web rates are about 10% lower than local rates depending on the rental duration and the season of rental.

Do I pay less if I book and pay in advance?

Yes! With our special Advance Booking offer, you will receive a 10% discount if you book and pay online at least TWO MONTHS before the start of your rental and 5% discount if you book and pay in less than two months before.

What is the minimum and maximum age required for the drivers?

You can rent a car from FAROS if you have a minimum age of 21 (car groups A and B). The maximum age allowed by our insurance is 70. For groups C, D, E, F, F1, I, J, J1 & H the minimum age is 23. For groups K, K1. L, H1 & H2 the minimum age is 25.

To rent a scooter or motorbike, the minimum age is 18 except fot the ATV 310cc and the XT600cc which is 21.

How long must I have the Driver's License? Do I need an International Driving License?

For renting any car you need to have a valid Driver’s License for at least one year.
For renting a scooter, motorbike or ATV, there is no such requirement.
International Driver's License is required only from issuing countries which are not listed as contracting parties in the Convention on Road Traffic, Vienna 1968.

Which are the Driver's requirements to rent a Scooter, Motorbike or ATV?

A valid driver’s license type B or AM, or higher is required for 50cc scooters and 50cc ATVs (quads) .
A valid driver's license type A1 or higher is required for 125cc scooters.
A valid driver's license type A2 or higher is required for 200cc and 250cc.
Licence type B is also accepted for any scooter or for the 50cc ATV.
For ATVs bigger than 50cc, we require driver's license type B.

If I book a baby/child seat, will it be definitely provided?

Child seats are mandatory in Greece and must be requested at the time of booking.

For older children, we provide booster seats. Faros Rentals guarantees all child seats or booster seats booked and confirmed at least 7 days before the rental start date.

The daily fee for each child seat or booster seat is 2€.

Do you have cars with automatic gearbox?

Yes we do. Our fleet currently includes the following automatic models.
Peugeot 208, Hyundai i10, Hyundai Getz 1.4, Hyundai Santa Fe 2.7 Jeep 4WD and Renault Megane Cabriolet 1.6.

How can I make my reservation?

The easiest way is to book online. Within a minute you are able to preview our rates, make your vehicle and model selection, fill-in the requested personal details and send us your reservation without even having to pay in advance or provide a credit card number necessarily.

As soon as you send us your reservation, you will receive an automated confirmation in the form of a rental voucher that you will have to present to our rep during the vehicle pick-up.

If there is an availability problem for your selected vehicle, we will contact you as soon as possible by email to suggest amendments and alternative options. If you don’t hear from us, other than the automated confirmation, that means that your reservation is accepted and valid as sent.

How and when can I pay if I book online?

We provide our customers with the following payment options.
Pay on delivery with cash and get 5% discount.
You can also pay by credit/debit card on delivery, but you are not eligible in this case for extra discount.
If "Pay Now" is selected, you are eligible to 5% or 10% discount depending on whether your reservations is done less or more than 2 months in advance.
The online payments are processed through "ALPHA BANK e-Commerce" platform and are fully secured.

Cancelation policy

We will give you full refund if you cancel your booking up to one month prior to your rental. For cancellations after this date and up to 2 days prior to your rental, we refund 80% of the amount paid.

Alpha Bank Security

All payments made online using credit/debit cards are processed through the electronic payment platform of "Alpha e-Commerce" of Alpha Bank and uses TLS 1.1 encryption protocol encryption with 128-bit (Secure Sockets Layer - SSL). Encryption is a way of coding the information until it reaches its recipient , who will be able to decode it using the appropriate key .

Our Insurance Policy

Am I fully insured against damages to the rented car?

Yes you are! Our Collision Damage Waiver policy covers you against all damages to the Faros car, except for the first portion of the claim (Excess) in the event of damage or theft to the rented car. The excess amount varies for each model and it appears in the reservation form during your reservation. You are then given the option to “zero” the excess by choosing the optional “Full Damage Waiver” policy at an exceptionally low charge.

However, as it is common with all insurances, the wheels (tires and rims) and the underside of the vehicle are not insured. In case of a non repairable tire damage you will be asked to pay about 50€.

What is the insurance policy for the motorbikes or ATVs?

We offer to our customers several insurance policies, with the aim to provide them with a trouble-free experience and minimize their risk as much as possible.
We provide Third Party Insurance that covers for all material damages or death and injuries towards Third Parties.
In addition to that basic policy we provide Collision Damage Waiver insurance and Theft Insurance for the Scooters, Motorbikes and ATVs with an “excess” that varies with the model. Full Insurance with zero excess is not provided for these vehicles. All the above insurance policies are included in the basic rates and there are no hidden or optional charges.

Are there any mandatory insurance policies that are not included in the rates? Are there any extras?

No they are not. All mandatory insurances are included in the rates.
There are some optional policies, such as Full Damage Waiver, Wheels/Underside and Glass, Personal Accident Insurance and Second Driver insurance which are clearly presented as optional extras during the on-line reservation process.

Can I be insured against damages to Wheels/Underside and Glass?

FAROS RENTALS provides an optional insurance which covers damage to wheels, tires, underside of the car, glass or damages caused to the underside of the car as far as they were not done intentionally or as the result of negligence or oversight. This is available by paying the daily amount of €5 for all car groups


You don’t have to leave any deposit for the rental of a bike or of an ATV. However you are liable in case of damage to the rented vehicle up to the amount of the insurance excess – which varies according to the bike or ATV type and size.
For the rental of a car, you are required to leave a refundable deposit of 500€ either with cash or by pre-authorizing your credit card, only in the case that you will not choose to buy the optional Full Damage Waiver (FDW) insurance. You can choose to include the FDW either during your online reservation or locally at the start of your rental. If the FDW is accepted, we do not ask for any deposit as guarantee.

Car Pick-up and Return

How do I collect my car at the airport?

Currently we do not operate a desk at Zakynthos airport but our representatives will meet-and-greet you in the arrival’s hall. They will hold a FAROS RENTALS sign. Please look for them and is advisable to have your mobile switched-on in case we will need to contact you.

Does Pick-up and Drop-off take place beyond working hours?

You can pick up or drop off the rented car 24/7. For cartain locations a small delivery fee applies. Business hours is 8am to 9pm. Beyond these hours the delivery or collection fee is 20€.

Can I collect my car or bike anywhere in the island?

You can collect or return your rental vehicle at your accommodation anywhere in the island, at the airport, at the port or the bus station.

Most of the island's resorts and pick-up points are included in the locations’ drop-down list where you can select your prefered location during the first step of the reservation process. You will be informed of any delivery fee if applies. If your accommodation’s location is not listed, please fill in the name and place of the hotel in the comments section.

What is your fuel policy?

We are offering a fair fuel policy. On return, the rented car or bike should have the same quantity of fuel as when received.

What if I delay the return of the car?

You can contact us and we can arrange for you keeping the car longer, if it is available. You will be charged the local discounted rates for extra days. In case of no early notice, extra charge applies. In particular, a delay shorter than 1 hour is free of charge. The rate of a daily rental applies to delays longer than 1 hour.

During your Rental

Can I take the car or bike outside of Zakynthos?

You can only take the rented car outside Zakynthos - but only within national boarders - with a written approval from FAROS Rentals. There is a flat charge of 40€ regardless of distance covered or days outside the island.

Motorbikes and ATVs are not allowed to be taken outside Zakynthos due to insurance restrictions.

Are helmets mandatory in Greece?

Yes they are and we provide them to our customers free of charge. The customer is responsible for any fines for not wearing a helmet and he is obliged to notify FAROS rental company for any fines received.

Can I prolong my rental after the rental start date?

Yes of course you can, but we apply local discounted rates for the extended period.

Road Assistance

We provide our customers with a free road assistance in case of a mechanical failure or accident during business hours 9am to 9pm.

Chauffeur Service


Yes, we offer a professional chauffeur service in conjunction with hiring any of our car fleet models. The service is provided and charged on a daily basis for a maximum of 8 continuous hours per day. Other arrangements can be made on request.


They can be anywhere you choose. At the airport, the port, your hotel or our office.


No you don’t because you are not liable of any damages to the FAROS car or to a third party during the hours of the service.
